10 Little Things To Do In Spring

10 Little Things To Do In Spring

Spring In New York

I've lived in New York for four years now, I can't say I love New York all the time. The city is like an annoying ex that full of disappointment and never keeps its promises. But every spring - that's until mid-Apri - when the wind is no longer harsh and before the streets get smelly, I fell in love with the city all over again. Here are 10 little things I love to do in the springtime in New York City. They are mostly free and doesn’t involve visiting any tourist spots.

10 Little Things To Enjoy In Springtime

“The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And, if you find someone to love the you that you love, well, that’s just fabulous.
-- Carrie Bradshaw”

1. Walking around with no destination only your beloved handbag.

Don’t plan ahead, just pick a starting point and explore the streets as they take you. I always remember to put my phone charger in my Chloe Nile Bag because the time will fly by so fast and you won’t even feel tired.

2. Break out your favorite mules for the first time this year

I got this pair of J.crew pink velvet mules right in the middle of winter. I didn’t get any chance to wear them until this weekend - the streets are finally cleared of dirty snow water.

3.Enjoy a Cronut sitting outside

Don’t know about you but the cronuts from the Dominique Ansel Bakery (189 Spring St) is one of my favorite treats. There is a small garden in the bakery where you can enjoy your desserts outside under a beautiful blossom tree. They don’t encourage people to feed birds in the garden but you can of course accidentally drop some crusts on the floor.

4. Be surprised by random flowers magically appeared overnight.

Walk down the same street every day and suddenly there is a beautiful tree full of flowers. I swear it wasn’t there yesterday. Well, I guess life is full of surprises

5.Saying "Iced Coffee To Go" for the first time in 6 months

You won’t feel you belong in New York unless you’re carrying a coffee to go. It’s finally time to enjoy your first iced coffee this year. So, sip away!

6. Find a pink wall, take a selfie and share on Instagram

7. People watching

The most entertaining thing to do in New York City. Pick a place and enjoy - Union Square, Washington Square, Maddison Square or if you dare Central Park. The places will full of people and all kinds of artists. People are the essence of a culture, if you’re bored by the museums just start people watching.

8. Enjoy daylight until 7pm

Even though the city never sleeps but who wouldn’t enjoy more daytime? More daylight means more time to enjoy the activities listed above before heading to dinner.

9. Carrying two boxes of pizza down the street and enjoy the jealousy in people’s eyes.

I mean, this one is the best. Make sure you’re doing this during 5-7pm for the best result - this is when people are the most hungry.

10. Slow down and be happy

The most important one. You don’t have to do the things on my list but be sure to do the things you love more often. No matter where you are and what season of the year, always make time to slow down and let yourself to enjoy life to the fullest.
