Dip Your Toe Into Fitness


In a perfect world, from tomorrow on, we all go to the gym every morning at 6, eat only nutritious food, never drink alcohol and look like fitness models all year long. But the reality is that fully commit to a healthy lifestyle doesn't happen overnight. From my own experience, radically changing every aspect of my life doesn't have a long-term benefit because it's too hard to stick to it. The best way to start a fitness journey is to ease into it, dip your toe into the water first.

Here are a few changes you can make today to start getting fit.


1. Start TODAY, don't wait for a special occasion.


Never wait for the fist of next month to start something if you can start today. People say the most difficult part is to start, but it is also the easiest part. Make up your mind and START TODAY.  


2. Put some money on it, invest in something fitness related.

Don't know about you guys, I'm extremely motivated by getting my money's worth. Spend some of your hard-earned money on something to help your fitness journey. No matter it's a blender for healthy smoothies; or a fitness tracker to motivate your workouts; or a pair of beautiful leggings to wear to the gym; or if you dare, a gym membership. Start SHOPPING, I know you're good at it.


3. Replace a carb source, choose a whole grain version.


If you like rice, eat brown rice instead of white rice. If you like bagels, get a wheat bagel instead of a cinnamon raisin. If you eat pasta on a daily basis, there are whole wheat pasta available. No matter what is your favorite carb source, there always a healthier version for you to choose. And personally, I like to cook anything whole wheat a little bit longer than instructed for a better(softer) taste.  



4. Utilize 1 HOUR of your screen time, start from there.

Can't find time to exercise? Use the time you watch youtube videos and eating chips with guacamole. Take your screen to the gym for a walk on the treadmill. Or even better, ditch the screens and go for a run outside. The weather is getting warmer, it's time to get more outdoor fun with your fur buddies.  


5. More water less poison.

Drink water when you feel thirsty, instead of soda or juice or mojito. It's a cliche but water does make a huge difference. I find prepare a large bottle of water beside you helps a lot. When I feel thirsty and I don't have a healthy drink beside me, I'm more likely to go for a fizzy drink. If you really need something with a taste, put some fruit in your water like lemons or cucumbers or berries. 



6. Get Moving, it doesn't have to be a whole hour.

Even if it's ten minutes, get a workout in TODAY. You'll feel better afterward, especially if you spent your day sitting at a computer reading about getting fit. So, stand up and start moving NOW.
